After sharing the shapes, we looked and examples of polygons and shapes that were not polygons. Using the examples, the class was able to come up with the characteristics of polygons. They now know that polygons must be two dimensional closed figures with at least three straight sides.
Next we went on a shape hunt and found examples of polygons in our classroom and around the school. We specifically looked for triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, octagons, and decagons. Some of us researched the names for polygons with more than ten sides because we found them as we looked around the classroom and our school.
Room 7, you are so clever. It is amazing to see the shapes that are around us everyday. Will you be doing anything in maths to celebrate Money Week this week? As always, keep up the great work
