My Special Place Writing - By Keira and Tara

We have been doing special place writing.  We need a capital letter at the start of a sentence, three descriptive words, punctuation at the end, and a variety of words at the start of a sentence.  We planned, organised, wrote, edited, and revised them.

Beautiful clear blue glistening water surrounds the hot sand.  Big huge palm trees let fall brown coconuts.  Blue waves crash down far out at sea.  Burning hot yellow sun tans my skin.  Under the water big and small colourful fish swim around me.  Fish hide in the bushy red coral.  I love my special place it’s wonderful.

Rushing water rushes down the waterfall from the top of the waterfall that is very very high.  Rocks around the waterfall go all the way around the waterfall.  On the other side of the waterfall there is a great big hill that goes up.  There is a seat at the top.  There are rocks that you need to cross to get to the big hill.  It is very noisy at the waterfall because the water is very very noisy.  When it goes down there isn’t much wind because the trees cover lots of the sky.  The sun is very very bright.  It shines through the trees.  When you cross the rocks it is very very bright.  I love my special place.

My special place has one pair of great big open giant doors.  After the doors there is a tough hard strong bridge which is good for fishing on.  A huge grassy green field is in the next part.  More people are running around on the field than the number of tents there are.  In total there are 25 colourful tents (I think).  The tents are also big, medium and small.  There is a freezing rocky chilly river which is awesome for boogie boarding in.  A few high tall cliffs are at the start of the cold sandy beach.  Fluffy white clouds and the hot shiny sun make a wide beautiful view.  It would be a pleasure if you could come to my special place.

There is a sparkly water at Petone beach which glistens with the site of the sun.  Sparkly water is chilly as a summer’s night.  Most of the waves that come rushing into the beach are either as tall as a giraffe or as small as a mouse.  Nearly all the sand feels as soft as lamb’s wool.  Part of the sand close to the water is perfect for drawing in with a nice sharp pointy stick.  I feel like I am in an over with the boiling hot sand blazing down on me nearly all the time.  Smooth shells feel like the flattest fabric.  Driftwood makes the perfect seat.  Most of the bushes that surround the beach have sharp pointy spines.  Massive trees swish side to side.  I love my special place.

I know a creek that the water is so clear that you can see gold fish yellow fish cray fish and rainbow fish.  Awesome! Sometimes when it’s summer we go to my special place.  In the summer we swim in the deep cold pools.  The rocks are brittle and hard.  The plants around the rocks are green curvy and wavy.   The birds are round dark brown and some are bright yellow.  They have a bright yellow beak.  Soft white clouds that make pictures are in the sky.

I have a special place a cemetery.  Me and mummy get out of the tiny bus and slip and slide through the mud.  The lazy wind slides through the spooky cemetery.  The view is amazing and beautiful.  In the dark spooky cemetery old rotten cracked gravestones lay across the green grass.  Shiny sparkly sun amazing view to the ocean and hills.  We go to the cemetery on special occasions.  My special place is awesome amazing and creepy.  I love my special place.

  2. Room 7 I loved reading about your special places. The descriptions were so good I wanted to visit your special places myself. Perhaps next you could write directions to get there so I can visit too.
