Introduction to Main Idea

We know that good readers are always thinking!  Today we began to discuss a new topic that we can think about while we read, the main idea.  We can add this to our collection of things we do while we read including making connections, making predictions, visualising, making inferences, determining author's purpose, and determining characters' traits.

We were given a variety of pictures and had to group them together and come up with a main idea for the group we created.  We could make as many or as few groups as we felt were necessary.  It was interesting to see the different main ideas that students came up with.

Room 7 I can hardly keep up with all of these blogs! I like your Probability Pizzas - what a great way to remember fractions. I also appreciate all of the hard work you are putting into your reading - I love stories which give you small clues about the ending but keep you guessing right to the very end
